What is a cellular Network?

A cellular network is a radio network which allows a number of handheld mobile stations (More commonly known as mobile phone or cell phone) to communicate with each other through voice and text message.

The Technology

• This network is made up of a number of cells, each served by at least one fixed-location transceiver known as a base station and handsets communicate through them.

• A large number of portable transceivers such as mobile phones, pagers can communicate with each other and with fixed transceivers and telephones anywhere in the network.
• The mobile handsets prices vary from $30 to $800. The price depends on the advanced features of the set.
• This network provides access to the internet through GPRS/EDGE services. User can access the internet directly through the GPRS/EDGE/3G enabled mobile phone or connect the phone to a laptop or desktop PC through Bluetooth or wire connection.
