What is DUMBO?
DUMBO deploys wireless mobile ad hoc network (MANET) for emergency conditions, such as after a natural disaster when a fixed network infrastructure is not available or had been destroyed. It can operate both in standalone and fully networked MANET platform.
- In standalone mode, communication is established in multi hop fashion. The range of coverage area can be 2-4 km linearly. Each MANET is capable to handle about 300 terminal nodes.
- In networked platform, two or more standalone MANET sites can be integrated through internet or satellite links.
Application
- DUMBO allows transmission of streaming video, voice and text messages both in individual and group communication mode.
- A GPS application is also integrated which can track the position and movement of the rescue worker and plots it in the Google map.
- It also has the facility to show the link status and quality of link as well.
