Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab), AIT participated in the first Thailand Networking Group (THNG) camp from 5-7th March, 2010, held in Khao Yai National Park and supported by Thai Network Information Center (THNIC) Foundation. About 60 Thai students from local college and universities participated in the program. The motto was “IT networking for Emergency Response”. The objective of the camp was to promote the application information technology (IT) for Society and develop the young generation to use IT for social welfare.
In this regard, intERLab focused on training the participants about DUMBO (Digital Ubiquitous Broadband OLSR) - the wireless emergency network. The participants were provided with the necessary equipments and our trainers were there to help them developing the emergency network while walking through the trails in the national park. So the attendees got the experience of deploying a network in the real field. This program helped to develop a group of humanitarian professionals trained in emergency live-saving mobile wireless network development, able to coordinate their efforts and increase the impact of emergency response.
